Kragnes Farmers Elevator demolishes building built in 1933
Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - A grain elevator built in 1933, is no more tonight.
Kragnes Farmers Elevator demolished the building in Moorhead Wednesday, to make way for a new state-of-the-art elevator.
The cost to tear it down, $65,000
A new, $2 million elevator will take its place.
It's hoped the new facility will be up and running in time for corn harvest this year.
“Farmers don't want to wait in line. You know as they wait a half an hour - 45 minutes to dump a truck in an old facility like this one, it cost them money. So we're putting high speed dump facilities up where we can dump a semi in 2 minutes,” says General Manager of Kragnes Farmers Elevator Todd Dravland.
Dravland says it will take three days to have the demolition cleaned up.
