Wadena has built a dike on the southwest side of town due to overland flooding from south of Wadena making its way into town.

About 40-homes have water in the basement.

Heavy rains Thursday night are to blame.

Firefighters were called on to assist city crews, using hoses and pumps to move water out of vulnerable areas.

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton met with Wadena and Otter Tail county leaders Monday to talk about flood damage.

Gov. Mark Dayton/ (D) Minnesota: “The legislature provided the state version of federal disaster aid this past session,  so we're going to have the first situation where we're going to be using that, and see if there are some gaps there.”
