Ground is broken at Dacotah Field
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The transformation of the Bison Sports Arena to a state of the art athletic facility is well underway and Tuesday, NDSU made the change official.
School president Dean Bresciani, along with outgoing athletic director Gene Taylor, were joined by plenty of NDSU donors and supporters in an official ground breaking ceremony at Dacotah Field.
The Sanford Health Athletic Complex, better known as the SHAC, will cost $41 million and should be ready by October of 2016, and for the tenants of the new building; it brings a brand new mindset.
“The BSA was a little rough on the edges. Kids came in and noticed that is NDSU committed to student athletes? Now with this new facility that they'll be able to understand that, the president and higher ups at
NDSU are committed, great place to play and display their talents.”
“We've had kids on campus and great phone conversations about the reality, check out
Instagram, check out Twitter, the pictures are up there, pick out a locker room, pick out carpet so it's certainly a conversation piece and a great opportunity for our student athletes.”
Bresciani announced a prominent area of the SHAC will be named after Gene Taylor.
