Gene Taylor leaving NDSU for University of Iowa
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - An emotional announcement Monday from NDSU athletic director Gene Taylor as he announces his departure.
Taylor will be leaving for the University of Iowa as the deputy director of intercollegiate athletics.
Gene Taylor came to NDSU in 2001 and was immediately charged with one of the hardest jobs in college sports, to take a school through the Division One transition.
NDSU formally made the announcement a year later and as they say the rest is now history.
Taylor was the man that hired Craig Bohl to turn around the Bison football program; he promoted Saul Phillips to lead the men's basketball team after Tim Miles left and spearheaded the 41 million dollar renovation of the Bison Sports Arena.
Gene Taylor/Leaving NDSU for Iowa: “The last 13 years at NDSU have been filled with great memories. This place is a special place. I have been very fortunate, this state, this community, this region, this institution, this athletic program has meant a tremendous amount to me and my family. I could never ever say thank you enough to this place.”
