Former Olympic champion Dan Gable was in Moorhead Wednesday for the Spuds wrestling fundraiser golf tournament.
Gable is a legend in the wrestling community, thanks to his terrific college career, losing just one match, then racking up 16 NCAA titles as head coach at Iowa and knows he can make an impression on young wrestlers.
Dan Gable- 1972 Olympic Champion: “I saw that they're stepping up here and first golf outing raising money for the program, doing some good things, right up my line, if I could influence 100 people a little bit more to help our sport out I want to do it.”
Skip Toops- Moorhead Head Coach: “He called out and sought us out; it's huge for our program and for wrestling to have an icon come here.”
The Spuds have made state as a team two of the last three years.
