Florida 'Star Trek House' boldly goes where no one has gone before

Boca Raton, FL (CNN) - Do you consider yourself an ultimate Trekkie? Well, a venture capitalist in Florida probably has you beat. He's such a fan of Star Trek that he has a replica Next Generation Enterprise bridge in his mansion - and now it could be yours, for a mere $35 million.

I tried to remember all the rules as i drove at warp speed to the 27,000 square foot Boca Raton mansion of venture capitalist Marc Bell.

Reporter: Rule #1: Never look at a home I can't afford. What is it going for?

Senada Adzem - Douglas Elliman Real Estate: “$35 million.”

Reporter: “Rule #2: If you are going to ignore Rule #1, make sure what you are buying is out of this world."

If you're a Trekkie, the bridge replica from Star Trek: The Next Generation means a lot more to you than Bell's 1,500 bottle wine cellar. Or the full size basketball court. Or the kitchen and the dining room big enough to feed Starfleet.

Senada Adzem: "He was so fascinated by the show and you're a bigger Trekkie than I am, but he ended up buying actual uniforms and actual badges and phasers and everything, and he wanted to recreate it at his own home."

Bell bought the original ears Leonard Nimoy wore as Mr. Spock. He got a model of the original Enterprise - and it's not just Star Trek. He also has Robbie the Robot from the 1956 thriller ‘Forbidden Planet.’ There is also an arcade filled with old sci-fi favorites.

Senada Adzem: "He ended up getting from different auction houses all the different memorabilia for the property."

But Bell is now moving to Miami.

Senada Adzem: "It just depends on the price."

Rule #3: When buying that 23rd century Star Trek bridge as part of your home, make sure all the extras are included. We've got photon torpedoes and phasers (great for home security), deflector shields for hurricane season and – oh yes - every episode that ever aired of Star Trek.

Rule #4: Once you’re sure the home is right for you, try to play hardball.

Reporter: "So now can we work on the price?"

Senada Adzem: “Not even."

Oh well maybe I can auction a few of the Starfleet uniforms on display - or a Tribble - or Captain Kirk's bobblehead - to get started on the down payment. What's that old line from the classic Star Trek episode where Jean-Luc Picard is taken over by the Borg? “Resistance is futile.”

So if you can't resist that dream home at least make sure it is one you want to live in for light years to come - and as Jean-Luc Picard used to say, “Engage.”
