In April of this year, MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell was in a serious car accident on the island of Tortola. When he finally came through surgery and rehab for his injuries two months later, he returned to his show and explained in a remarkable 16-minute monologue that his life-changing event turned around how he viewed... life. It got me to thinking that we, as a society, spend far too much time allowing what divides us, define us.
