Fargo mom accused of breast feeding while using marijuana
FARGO – The Fargo mother of a 2-month-old baby was charged Tuesday with child endangerment after allegedly admitting to investigators she had breastfed the infant with THC, the active chemical in marijuana, in her system.
According to a search warrant filed in Cass County District Court, a Cass County Child Protective Services worker received information sometime before May 12 that the 2-month-old baby of Safia Yesuf Sahid, who is 25 or 26, tested positive at birth for tetrahydrocannabinol in the newborn’s system.
Sahid allegedly admitted to also testing positive for THC, and was reported to Fargo police as having been breast-feeding the baby despite having THC in her system.
Fargo police conducted a dog-sniff search on Sahid’s apartment at 1841 39th St. S. on May 15, and allegedly seized two paper bindles with marijuana plus a marijuana stem, the search warrant says.
Sahid was charged in Cass County court with one count of child endangerment, a Class C felony, and one count of possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.
Her first court date has not yet been set.
