Ransi Thomas, 21, of Fargo was booked into the Clay County Jail on several charges, including fleeing in a motor vehicle, fleeing on foot, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a pistol without a permit.

The deputy suspected Thomas of driving drunk and pulled him over on Highway 52 about 12:45 a.m., Sirro said. During the traffic stop, Thomas, who had a warrant for his arrest on a probation violation, drove off and the deputy pursued him for nearly a mile, Sirro said.

The deputy ended the chase for safety reasons after Thomas drove the wrong way on Interstate 94. Thomas later went into a ditch and crashed into a fence in front of the Moorhead campus of Rasmussen College, 1250 29th Ave. S.

Thomas, who was not hurt in the crash, fled on foot and was soon captured. Officers recovered a gun at the scene, Sirro said.
