FARGO – A Fargo man is accused of impregnating a 15-year-old girl who had been handed over to Cass County for foster care following the death of her mother.
According to court documents filed in Cass County District Court on Wednesday, Fargo police received a report from LaMoure County Social Services regarding the 15-year-old girl, saying she was pregnant with the child of a 25-year-old man.
Her father had filed the report after coming to Fargo from Wyoming when he heard the girl’s mother was ill.
While visiting with the mother, he learned the teen had been placed in Cass County’s foster care, court documents say, so he went to court and got custody of the girl.
There, he learned that she had been unsupervised for two weeks.
LaMoure County Social Services workers believed the girl had been staying with a friend during her mother’s illness, court documents say, and had become pregnant by Gregory Lee Fornter, 25, of Fargo.
Fornter’s first court appearance has not yet been set.
