Fargo man accused of hitting ex-girlfriend with car twice
MOORHEAD – A Fargo man has been charged with domestic violence and assault with a dangerous weapon after allegedly running into his ex-girlfriend twice with his car in a drugstore parking lot here.
Christopher Alen Pederson, 26, was charged Thursday in Clay County District Court with one count of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of domestic assault, both felonies, and a single gross misdemeanor charge of failing to stop in an injury accident.
Court documents say officers were sent about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday to the scene where a pedestrian was injured by a car in the 30th Avenue South area.
Witnesses told officers they were pulling out of the Dairy Queen and saw a northbound white Cadillac drive into a blond woman who was there with a man, knocking her to the ground.
The Cadillac made a U-turn and left the parking lot, so the witnesses followed and called police.
The woman told police she and her boyfriend were walking home from the Red Box video rental at the CVS Pharmacy, 822 30th Ave. S., when they noticed her ex-boyfriend behind the wheel of his white Cadillac and heading toward them.
The woman and her boyfriend told police her ex drove over her foot, stopped in front of them for about 15 to 30 seconds, then turned around and hit her in the thigh with the rear bumper.
The woman told police she and her ex-boyfriend had a long, turbulent history together, and that she ended their four-year relationship in February after he assaulted her.
Police stopped the driver and identified him as Pederson, who told them he agreed to meet the woman at O’Leary’s. He told police she ran up to his car and punched it, and that he drove away without hitting her with the car.
Pederson’s next court appearance is set for Wednesday.
