Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The match this morning had people leaving work or taking the day off altogether.

That was the case in downtown Fargo at the Wurst Bier Hall, which was packed with both American and German fans.

Christine Hoefs/Fargo: “Comparing atmosphere: reminds me of watching the Bison games, and when last game when we scored in the US game, place went crazy it was awesome.”

Awesome was one word to describe the atmosphere this morning and as you'd expect Germany was well represented.

Robbie Gruhl/Hawley: “It was a non-brainer, I'm American, my girlfriend is German so we had to come here. Last time I watched European Cup in Germany, this definitely has the environment.”

For the team USA supporters they made sure that Uncle Sam's army would be heard from.

Stephen Daniel/Fargo: “This was an effort to take back we're playing in the United States, we wanted to support the US in the German pubs, great to see people interested in, or just bandwagoners, its great love having people here.”

The game didn't go the way Team USA supporters had hoped but they left with some positive vibes.

Ryan Christianson/Fargo: “I didn't expect us to win, but as long as they moved on I'm happy. It was a good experience, both never seen so many people for the other team in one spot, it was pretty fun.”

They'll be able to gather again on Tuesday, that's when the US will play Belgium in the Round of 16.
