F-M RedHawks 13 St. Paul 5
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's hard to beat a Sunday afternoon at the ballpark, but lately, it's the RedHawks who have been beat on Sunday's at Newman Outdoor Field. Since June 1st, they've lost 3 straight Sunday home games.
But, they ended that drought Sunday; the fire department had to be called because of the RedHawks hot offense.
Scoreless in the 2nd, when Nic Jackson sends a rocket home run to the parking lot across the street. Good thing the fire truck was out of the way, this one rolls underneath a car. The 2-run shot is his 7th of the year.
That was just the start, Anthony Kaskadden with a base knock to right. He went 3 for 5, and drove in 2 runs Sunday afternoon.
Later in the inning, wind is blowing out, bases are loaded and the RedHawks RBI leader is at the plate. CJ Retherford, with his little boy in the crowd, hits a grand slam. He's up to 53 RBI. It's an 8-run inning.
That's enough for starter Taylor Stanton who helps turn this rare1-2-3 double play to end the 4th.
The RedHawks win it, 13-5 to take the series, and establish some momentum heading into the 2-day all-star break.
