Dogs Help Kids Learn To Read
Kids and their parents had a "helping paw" Sunday while working on their reading skills. The Grand Forks Public Library held it's Reading Educational Assistance Dogs program this afternoon. The READ program gives young readers the chance to experience the support and encouragement of a support dog. Children read and work on their skills with the comfort of the dog, not having to worry about being embarrassed in front of others.
Kirbie Sondreal with the Grand Forks Public Library says,"The dog really calms them down. You can kind of see it as they go. As they open up to the dog."
The READ Program happens again next month on Sunday, July 13th at 2pm.
