BNSF train derails between Ramsey and Elk River, Northstar Train service stopped
RAMSEY - A BNSF train with a total of 16 empty cars derailed between Ramsey and Elk River. Because of the derailment, the Northstar trains will not run Friday; they use the same tracks.
Some buses will be added, but officials say it won’t be enough to handle all of the people who typically ride the Northstar train. The bus trips will also take significantly longer and won't be on the regular schedule.
Officials say Northstar Link buses from St. Cloud will bring riders from Big Lake to Elk River. Metro Transit buses from Elk River will make stops at Ramsey, Anoka, Coon Rapids/Riverdale, Fridley and Target Field stations.
No injuries have been reported.
