Bison men’s basketball team begins offseason workout program in new temporary home at Scheels Arena
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Scheels Arena's new tenants got a first look inside their temporary home for the next two years earlier Wednesday night.
The Bison men's basketball team began its offseason workout program which also served as Dave Richman's debut on the floor as the head coach.
The floor was installed late last week over the ice surface and now it's about getting adjusted not just to the new coach but also to the basketball court.
David Richman/1st Year as Bison Head Coach: “Some guys have been out here to make sure everything is good. As I walked down the stairs this was the first and to be honest with you I got a big smile. You're talking about a lot. As I look around here, the chair back seating, the climate is going to be pretty conducive to our fans.”
A.J. Jacobson/Bison Redshirt Fr. Guard: “You know the comfort ability is going to be different but I think since we have some opportunity to practice here and some opportunity to get adjusted before the season starts. I hope that we'll be ready for the season when it comes and we'll be ready to play in here.”
Richman and his staff is allowed eight hours per week over the summer with the team, but only two hours on the court, part of a NCAA rule changed last summer.
