Air Force newspaper says Grand Forks Base is 6th best in U.S.
Grand Forks, ND - Grand Forks Air Force Base is the sixth best base for airmen, according to the Air Force Times newspaper.
That’s out of 68 bases around the country, ranked by hundreds of statistics such as school quality, cost of living, housing costs and other factors.
Grand Forks’ base got high marks for housing, the size of the commissary and base exchange, low crime, minimal traffic and low unemployment. The base got at least 8 out of 10 points for each of those factors.
Low marks, where the base got 4 or fewer points include pollution and health care.
Scott Air Force Base, Ill., and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, tied for No. 1.
Minot Air Force Base, the other air base in North Dakota, was No. 17, tied with four other bases. Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., was No. 34.
